What is the Mech-PROTECT Warranty Gap Cover?
Mech-PROTECT is a "Warranty Gap Policy". It is also referred to as a "Warranty Booster" or a "Warranty Top Up" policy. It "Boosts and Tops Up" the existing warranty cover on your vehicle.
What are the benefits of the Mech-PROTECT Warranty Gap Cover?
1. Financial Shortfall Cover.
When there is a gap between the cost of repair and your existing warranty claim limit, then the Mech-PROTECT Total Parts Cover policy will contribute up to *R11 000 per claim to cover that gap. These "gaps" are often a result of inflation, which is driven by continuous increases in Petrol and Electricity prices.
2. Component Shortfall Cover.
Motor cars are becoming more and more technically advanced with more and more mechanical and electrical components being used to improve performance, economy, and safety. Yet mechanical warranties do not cover every single component on the car. The result is, that you will have to pay for these often expensive and unplanned failures yourself.
With a Mech-PROTECT Total Parts Cover policy you will have the peace of mind and assurance that EVERY MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENT on your car is covered up to *R 11 000 per claim.
To check if your existing warranty excludes any components, simply go to the "EXCLUSIONS" clause in your warranty policy wording.
Generally, you will find a clause that says something like the following: "Excluded are any components NOT LISTED under the component covered section of your policy".
In the Mech-PROTECT policy wording, "MECHANICAL" is defined as any two or more moving, or interlocking components. Whilst "ELECTRICAL" is defined as any component through which an electrical current or pulse is transferred. (YES, even Light bulbs are covered.) It is as simple as that.
3. Non mechanical / electrical & wear & tear components.
Almost every warranty in South Africa excludes non-mechanical / electrical components. Examples of these components are hoses, pipes, air-conditioner re-gassing, brake fluid reservoir, power steering reservoir, CV joint boots, dust covers, bushes, seals, gaskets, engine and gearbox mountings, cables, ignition switch, transponder keys, and exhaust system to name a few. With the Mech-PROTECT Total Parts Cover policy, YOU WILL BE COVERED.
4. Additional cover provided by Mech-PROTECT - Vehicle interior, upholstery & roof linings.
All of the upholstery, door panels, door handles, roof lining, dashboard, interior instrumentation, seat mechanisms, hand brake mechanism, and seat belt mechanisms.
- Your car's battery is also covered by Mech-PROTECT.
- Service plan shortfall cover & brake pads.
If you have a service plan on your car then you qualify for this additional benefit. Normally Service plans do not cover, wiper blades, wheel alignment, and Brake Pads. With Mech-PROTECT you are covered up to R 1 500 per annum. With our
Mech-PROTECT policy you are covered. NOTE: You must have a Service Plan to qualify for this benefit.
- Windscreen Cover
Whether you have insurance on your car or not, Mech-PROTECT will assist with covering up to R1 500 to either repair or replace your windscreen, or assist with the excess on your insurance claim.
- Entertainment system.
Most warranties cover factory-fitted entertainment systems but exclude the speakers. With Mech-PROTECT we cover the speakers as well as after-market products.
- Other Parts Covered.
Other benefits you will enjoy cover your exhaust system as well as a tow-in shortfall.
Does my vehicle qualify for the Mech-PROTECT Solution?
To qualify for a Mech-PROTECT Warranty Gap Solution, you need to have in place an "Existing Warranty" with any warranty company, or with your vehicle manufacturer. The Mech-PROTECT Solution will then run concurrently with your existing warranty.
